Building Hawaii’s Future with Excellence

The Hawaiʻi Building & Construction Trades Council (HBCTC) is dedicated to supporting and advancing the interests of skilled tradespeople throughout the islands. As a coalition of construction trade unions, we represent the hardworking individuals who build and maintain Hawaiʻi’s critical infrastructure—from roads and utilities to homes, hospitals, and schools. By working in close partnership with government agencies, private industry, and local communities, we help ensure that Hawaiʻi’s construction sector remains strong, resilient, and committed to high-quality standards.

Central to our mission is the creation of meaningful, well-paying job opportunities that support working families and contribute to a thriving local economy. Through ongoing dialogue with developers, labor leaders, and public officials, we advocate for policies and projects that prioritize local hiring, invest in skilled labor, and promote sustainable growth across all islands. We believe that economic development should go hand in hand with workforce empowerment—and we work every day to make that vision a reality.

As an affiliate of the Building and Construction Trades Department and the AFL-CIO, the Council also plays a vital role in championing fair labor practices, safe working conditions, and strong apprenticeship and training programs. These efforts not only protect workers’ rights and well-being but also ensure that Hawaiʻi continues to benefit from a highly skilled, professional workforce for generations to come. At HBCTC, we are proud to stand at the intersection of progress, equity, and opportunity—building Hawaiʻi’s future with excellence.
